Lordie; it's pretty clear that the ability to use TNR could probably only be done as an adjunct to killing as many as possible, as painlessly as possible. I say that as a lover of cats. They're just doing what comes naturally, but they really can't be allowed to endanger so many bird and mammal species with extinction. *sigh of cat lover regret.*
Perhaps, if the feral population ever gets below some particular level some years in the future, TNR might help bring it down to zero. And if there are private groups out there who are willing to put their own money into trying some TNR on some smaller feral colony or two, it could provide a good study case.
