Yeah, feral cats can be found in 99% of the mainland. It makes me really sad, because those cats have terrible and short lives. My cats are entirely indoor cats primarily for environmental reasons, and that's getting more common in most of urban and suburban Australia - some councils have 6pm-6am cat curfews, and some allow indoor cats only. Unfortunately, I live in a very rural dairy farming area, where people have working dairy cats roaming free around their farms, so people think caring for your cats more than very basic vet care and keeping them indoors is crazy!
