Agreed; I think it's because a) we've been taught since childhood that doctors Are Better Than Us when it comes to all things medical and b) we women, in particular, are conditioned to be accepting and quiet.

Believe me, I know prolix, and your response is not in the least prolix; you say what you want to say with compact sentences, and end just when and where you need to end. Heh.

I always learn new words reading your journal.

I've known about leading strings for a long time (can't remember when I first heard it, but probably as I grew up); I'd forgotten it until I saw it used in "The Goblin Emperor", my absolute favorite comfort read of all time. Getting to use it myself was a lot of fun.
