Indeed. What's even more terrifying is that, all the Russian anti-war demonstrations notwithstanding, a majority of Russians appear to buy into it as well. (Although the WaPo story does include a glimmer of hope, in that the majority is much, much smaller than the 90+ percent of Russians who supported his annexation of Crimea.)
