I remember you being hit negatively by Kerblam! I confess, I was remarkably oblivious to the shortcomings of the plot. I'd have to revisit the episode to get a clearer feel for it today.
Oh please don't, it's so depressing. The main point is: Amazon is good actually, and you should be glad to have a job at all!

My obliviousness probably stemmed from how much I love Thirteen. Too often, we try to explain away the bad things those we love do, and I plead guilty wrt this episode.
Thirteen was done dirty on this one. Just yell 'Chibnall!' very loudly and shake a fist at him and forget about the episode.

But I know the Doctor has always had a mistrust of commercialization and unchecked capitalism.
