Good lord. It's been an entire month.
And I don't think my absence did teh intarwebz much damage at all.
Still, in the spirit of potentially self-delusional belief that posting at least intermittently will keep me connected to the outer world, I'm doing just that. I haven't the slightest idea of what to write, however. Every time I think "I should post about that," or "this could be an interesting thing to post about," I'm never anywhere near my laptop and I consistently forget that I have a tiny notebook in my purse. I never got into the habit of writing thoughts down as they occur; my loss, of course.
So I'll start in the easiest possible way; with a list.
1. For the first time since starting to take part in it, back in 2021, I've accepted the fact that I'm not going to finish my NaNoWriMo novel. In fact, I'll be lucky if I get to 50 percent. I did manage to write steadily every day until last Thursday, and I'm focusing on that as a positive. I actually thought this NaNo effort would be easier, because I used part of the plot from an unwritten fic. Unfortunately, I learned that "sort of having a plot" wouldn't work for me this time. Ah, welladay, and it's nothing that will kill me, and I can continue writing the novel, or the other novel, or the novella, or the Arcane fic, or the Thirteenth Doctor-mass-crossover fic -
You get the idea. Heh.
2. I'm looking forward to having Andy, Emily, and Harlan here for Christmas. It's the first time in years that Andy will spend the day with us, and not with Emily's extended family. I'm really, really, looking forward to it. Harlan is starting to talk, he's signing, and he's in the process of becoming an even more amazing child than he already is. Bob and I have been looking at the layout of our tiny livingroom, to figure out the safest place for the Christmas tree (between Harlan and Carter, who has never seen a Christmas tree, we're expecting at least one episode of tipped over Christmas tree.) It's a wonderful challenge to undertake.
3. I'm watching The Former Guy's continuing legal fun, and celebrating with the purchase of a "Trump In Prison Orange" action figure from FCTRY. Petty of me, I know. And I'm mystified by the reported dislike of Biden by otherwise intelligent potential voters. Gah. I have retreated a bit from my previously obsessive news junkie-ism, because ... just because. I'll watch and read more as the months go on, because I can't stay away completely, but for awhile, I'm going to think about fluffy bunnies.
4. There was something else, something positive, that I wanted to add to the list, but I can't remember what it was. Oh, wait - I've moved largely over to Threads from Xitter, although I continue to chat with a Ukrainian volunteer soldier via DM on Twitter. Getting out of Xitter is a good thing. (
elisi , I still have your "How to Mastodon" post up in one of my many tabs, and maybe I'll wind up there as well.)
5. Oh, and may I suggest that if you have space on your To Be Watched list for Netflix's Blue Eye Samurai, I think you'll be very impressed.
6. And the first Dr. Who special? I watched it and, a little to my surprise, I really liked it.
OK, I've done it! I've posted! And I'm going to post something else soon. Maybe. Go, me!

Did you see the new promo for Arcane s2? That shot where Vi is Jinx's shadow killed me TT_TT

Did you see the new promo for Arcane s2?
Ack - no I didn't! Is it over on YouTube? I'll head over there presently; I can hardly wait for S2, so promo's are like water in the desert. I'll probably feel the way you do about that shot.

I think it is; I only stumbled on it on tumblr. I'm doing my best to be patient, but that detail got me TT_TT I've always loved how they centered the show on Jinx and Vi's relationship and this gives me hope that will continue.

And I just watched the ssecond Arcane promo, and it is so wonderfully evocative - and it's only 12 months away, huzzah!

the Thirteenth Doctor-mass-crossover fic -
Ooooh, pray tell me more.

Let me know if you make the leap. I'm liking it a lot.

What's it about? Unless the title is 100% descriptive...
6. And the first Dr. Who special? I watched it and, a little to my surprise, I really liked it.
And there was much rejoicing. I shall be posting.

It's a lovely icon, which I picked up quite a long time ago, before I even read "Good Omens." Of course, it's even more fun to use, now that I've read the book (and watched the first season, of course.)
Ooooh, pray tell me more.
Heh; it's an altogether unwieldy story featuring characters from Conan Doyle's Holmes books, from "Buckaroo Banzai" and Lois McMaster Bujold's Vorkosigan saga, as well as from the Rivers of London book series. So, yes - unwieldy.
I'll let you, and probably everyone else, know how I progress in learning Mastodon's mysteries.

It is indeed 100 percent descriptive, but the show takes that starting point and delivers a rollicking and sometimes tragic adventure in an alternate Edo-era Japan that nonetheless has historical congruences with our world. The voice acting is excellent (it's in English, with Kenneth Branagh as the baddie, and some other notable actors lending their talents to it, including Uncle George Takei.)

... You have watched S2, no?

Well, good luck with it. I'm finally posting the fic I have been WRESTLING with for... years. Never had anything be such a pain, and if I could finish it, then you can do yours. :)
I'll let you, and probably everyone else, know how I progress in learning Mastodon's mysteries.
Please ask for help - I might not know, but at least I can try. *g* Although add Lisa Melton and you're set for content.
Re. Blue Eye Samurai, then my middle daughter & girlfriend have fallen for it, so I am sure we'll watch soon.
(Disclaimer: My head is FULL OF DOCTOR WHO, no space for anything else.)

The special was fun, wasn't it? Tennant/Tate who was the Tennant Who I could relax with and like. (Other Tennant Who iterations ... not so much.)

You certainly may! I'll get it right onto my TBW!!
