Thanks for your kind words - I hadn't realized that it was close to the haiku syllable count!
Two images prompted this. a) I was trying to write a story which explained how and/or why the Ninth Doctor chose to dress as he did. The original draft began in the Wardrobe room, and I was prepared to research all sorts of clothing from all ages and cultures, when I happened to write a sentence about Nine walking through the halls of the TARDIS looking for home. That's when I thought about how he might risk becoming lost, body and mind, in the TARDIS, if she tried to do that for him, tried to stretch on forever. (That, in turn, may have been an echo of admiration for a story I read on Teaspoon, by the remarkable and all too absent amberite.) b)an image of the Eighth doctor bursting into flame - real flame, as Gallifrey and everything around it burned in our physical reality, in all dimensions, and in transcendental reality. I saw regeneration happening in the midst of the flames, and I started my story with the light from those flames dying. So the first glimpse of the Doctor in this story is of Nine, nanoseconds after he becomes Nine.[/morethanyouwantedtoknow]
