As soon as I went and looked some up, it was like . . . ah, Nova Scotia--that's why I'm reminded of it!
I read an awful lot of her poems (I think possibly all of them) a number of years ago. Sadly I don't remember any too well, although I do recall liking The Moose quite a lot.
The one that jumped immediately to mind with you poem was The Fish, for obvious reasons.
