We know so little about Elements that I have taken a liberty in describing Jet as having no set gender (hence “them” and “they”). I also took the liberty of allowing Jet, Iridium, and Radium the ability to work in the ocean and under several atmospheres’ worth of pressure. I have always been fascinated and frightened, in equal amounts, by the thought of the darkest depths of the ocean, especially the polar oceans; I’ve been equally fascinated by narwhals, and some of the stories about them.
