I said to promethia_tenk over on Dreamwidth that Moffat and his team often create lace when they write their stories and story arcs.
Sometimes that's great, especially for those of us who want to look through the patterns in the lace, what some would call the holes, and fill in with story, or see past those holes to the story that's hiding in plain sight.
At other times, unfortunately, the lace simply can't hold the weight of the premises, and rips in two, three or nine.
Mind you, I'm an extremely cheap date when it comes to Moffat and Who. I will accept damn near anything.
Except frakkin Kill the Moon. That was horrendous.
