What Lilac said. As a European living in Australia - with a beloved cat-nephew, as it happens - I feel very strongly that domestic cats should only be allowed into the country as licenced exotics. Licenced pre-neutered exotics. The damage that free-roaming housecats and feral ex-housecats do to native bids, lizards and whatnot is horrific.
(I do have to admit that the feral cats who dwell in the bush here are quite lovely-looking though. I call them ghost cats because after many generations entire tribes of them have gone a sort of sand colour. Awesome camouflage out there...)
