Just Call Me a Yule-ish Capitalist

I have done all my Christmas and holiday shopping. Two days of research, an hour of checking with my Best Beloved for agreement on choices, one text, one frenzied 20-minute stretch online. 

Oh, and weeks of guilt over abandoning brick and mortar stores and the living they grant their employees. 

Go, me. 

How do the rest of you handle it?

I have a zero-person shopping list. My friends and I don't really exchange gifts on holidays, and I exchange gifts with relations only when I see them in person.

I do buy stuff for local kids via Santas without Chimneys, all year around. Most of that is great deals on things that I see year around: mostly art supplies, fluffy throws, and (this year) pillowcases with media characters on them.

(OTOH, today I went out and found the very last copy of a video game at Target for a friend's kid. That success made me ridiculously happy.)

We wouldn't worry about Christmas stuff for a couple of weeks at the very least with two exceptions. The first will be determining where and when we will celebrate Christmas supper with my in-laws (would my first wife's family be the un-laws?). The second, and I am falling behind on this, will be making the vinatarta (some spell it vineterta... I have nothing to say to those people ;)). Unfortunately, fun with kidney stones is delaying my cake making.

So far I've bought a bunch of novelty t-shirts, some leggings for the nieces, and some shirts/hoodies/hats with my hockey team logo on it. All online. Probably will do a little more scatter-shot online shopping today and tomorrow.

Mostly shop bound with some internetting followed by getting things wrapped stress!

I aim for half and half in my shopping. I accept it is easier to get some stuff from Amazon.

To make up for it I try to use local stores or crafters to make up the rest of the shopping.

Means I cover the best of both options.
