Just When You Think It Couldn't be More Stupid 

Now come six proofs that you can have the IQ of a broken toaster and still make it to Washington D.C.

From the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation; four U.S. House Representatives from Minnesota, and two from Wisconsin, sent a letter to the Canadian Ambassador to the U.S. 

Their subject? The smoke from Canadian wildfires that were coming south and preventing people in their states from enjoying outdoor summer activities. 

Seriously. 

Since I would not be surprised in the least if you've already started snickering, sure that I'm having you on, here's the story.  It's not behind a paywall, I swear. And it notes with a perfectly straight face, the smoke from U.S. wildfires heading northward. The "Are you actually humans, or malfunctioning Chat GPT programs?" is unspoken.  

These six examples of Darwin's Law are either fully aware of the fatuous asininity exhibited in this letter and are doing it to ingratiate themselves with Dear Leader or to their own MAGA constituents ...

... or they're really that stupid. 

JFC. Once I would have laughed merrily at this. Today I'm perilously close to weeping.

Yeah, one of the scariest things about this shit-show is that so many of our government officials are just as stupid as their Maga followers. Truly terrifying.

Yep. It's prime stupid, and people exhibiting that type of stupid generally also exhibit signs of prime toadyism. Two terrible things for the price of one. Gah.

So many of these bozos come straight out of MAGA; even the ones who might have started out simply as rock-rib conservative GOP were more than happy to jump into the shallow end of the gene pool.

When I told Bob about the story, I actually said, "This could have been an Onion headline." And then I said that the past nine years have made it almost impossible for satirists to operate.

Minnesota Republicans are indeed surpassingly stupid, also arrogant. Tom Emmer once ran for governor, and the only good thing I know about him is that he decided not to demand a recount when he lost. Fischbach, BLARGH.

That's right; I remember Emmer getting at least two cheers for doing the bare democratic minimum. I don't know much about Fischbach, and I take it that I shouldn't go hunting for more information.

Oh, well, it's not like she's Michele Bachmann. She was a common or garden Republican, which was annoying enough, but now she's gone full Trumper and is celebrating the murder bill, which will wreck her extremely rural district. She just gets up my nose.
