It's Been Niggling At Me
Ever since the British election, I've been absolutely racking my brain every time I looked at David Cameron. Who the hell did he remind me of, I asked myself, who?
Now I know.

White House Secretary Robert Gibbs ....................aaaaaand........................The Shiny New Prime Minister
*I wonder what they'd think?
**Why yes, I do amuse myself, why do you ask?

Don't they look as if they came from the same family?

Date: Wednesday, 12 May 2010 06:55 am (UTC)BTW I've been reading some of your posts for a while now, but without commenting (well duh). If memory serves, I found you quite by random accident - via a friend who pointed me at one of those LJ daily questions, in this case one about people's favourite cult films, and I was impressed by your eloquence (if not by your taste in favourite films :P :P :P ) enough to put you on my To Watch list...
Also, for the record - since you're a Who-head - I find your Doctor posts quite interesting. But I won't join in because after 40-odd years of growing up with and then continuing to love the show, I've reached a point of MATT!DOC!IS!MY!CRACK! and have thrown all my long-honed deconstructive skilz right out the window. Plot holes? Twee-ness? Who cares? ~grins~

Date: Friday, 14 May 2010 12:27 am (UTC)Thank you, as well, for the kind words about my Who meanderings. I, too, am a long-time Whovian, in that I remember watching the first episode back in 1963. I've always been extremely fond of it, and was delighted to discover that the revived show was just fantastic; fell in love with it then, and seem to have continued to love it in all its pied and jury-rigged splendor.
Matt is well and truly a magnificent Doctor. He's rapidly climbing my ladder of Favorite Doctors (topped with Eccleston, who's just a tad above Pertwee for me.) Matt seems to have the sense of age and slight sense of extremely kind distance from the human race that belies his youthful face.
Being an incredibly nosey reporter, and, thus, required by the laws of physics to ask extremely brassy questions, do you mind if I "friend" you? (Should that not be to your liking, don't mind; I'm not frail when it comes to getting "no, thank you"s, but I believe I like your sensibilities.
Cheers, no matter what, and feel free to drop by at any time!

If you've investigated this username, you'll have seen that there are fewer than twenty public posts; you might find this one and also this related one of interest. Since I've been on LJ for a number of years now, be sure that there were many hundreds of other posts that were never open to the general public. Also, I stopped posting as P2 many moons ago, since even though almost all of the people on my list were pre-LJ RL friends, I found that I no longer wanted to include them, so I moved to a far more private elsewhere and only use P2 for commenting on the journals of Them Wot Don't Know I've Moved On :P
I've no objection to you adding me, but before I can return the favour I'll have to go back and lock down what few personal posts are still available to my f-list. At least that way I'll have the option of reading your posts on my own page rather than having you in my LJ inbox...stand by...

Date: Friday, 14 May 2010 04:39 am (UTC)You mentioned being confuzzled. Now for the truly odd thing: shortly after the "writer's block" cult movie question you mentioned above, you friended me, for about four minutes, then unfriended me. I get notices when folks do both, so I noted the on-off switch, checked you out, thought "Hmm. Interesting person. Must have hit the wrong button, one way or the other. Ah, well, mysteries abound in this life, most particularly on teh Intarwebz, and ever-more-particularly on lj." And then I thought no more of it.
Until you posted here, and made me smile.
All true!
