Heading Hunger Gamesward

Yes, I'm aware that's not quite a word. Heading to see the movie anyhow. By myself, as it happens (which doesn't bother me, since I rather imagined BB would not be interested.) But it's sort of on a whim, and it's definitely the first time in a long time that I've attended a movie by myself. This should be interesting. All the popcorn for myself. MMMmmmm/

Possibly a review afterward; my fingers and hands are tired, though, after a lot of typing today. We shall see.

Oooooh! I hope you enjoyed it. I devoured the first book in one day, i thought it was absolutely wonderful. Then i went to see the film the next day. I loved it too, i thought it was a pretty faithful rendering of the book - apparently there was heavy involvement from the author, so that always helps. What did you think of it?

I was really impressed with how well the team that put the movie together translated the book into visual form. The sound track was a real plus, and the acting was never less than competent, ranging all the way up to truly, truly impressive, Jennifer Lawrence most notably. (As a fan of the show Caprica (sadly cancelled before it could run a second season) I was thrilled to see Paula Malcolmson play Katniss' mother. The actress blew me away on Caprica, and I'm looking forward to her increased role as the next two books hit the screen.)

I'm still hoping to put a review together, but other things are interfering for the moment.

The soundtrack was wonderful! I had to get the score afterwards and it makes for gorgeous listening. Yeah, Jennifer Lawrence, i thought she put in a really sensitive performance.

Visually, it was just wonderful - the sets, the costuming - it all felt so authentic to the book.

Look forward to reading you review if you manage to get to doing one!

Yes, indeed. I just got back and, while I will probably use a separate post to talk about it at length, I can tell you I was mightily impressed.

Oh, I had a marvelous time, my dear, although I blush to say that, even though I got the smallest popcorn size, I could only eat half of it. It could have had something to do with the fact that I also had a hotdog (didn't eat supper before dashing out the door, and somehow that mass produced sit-on-the-warmer hot dog tasted just wonderful.) Still, what popcorn I had was buttered and salted to my exact liking, if not that of my arteries, and I enjoyed every piece I munched on.

To say nothing of enjoying the movie!

Fantastic!! *Beams* I applaud your behaving yourself with said popcorn though, while I ashamedly admit I am terrible and always get the biggest size I can stagger in with just sopping with butter and salt. I am horrible, lol!!

Mmmmm...hotdog beforehand. What an excellent supper all around! To be five again...only a five year old can truly appreciate said indulgence, lol!!

And the movie rawking as well?! BONUS.

I saw it with a friend and his sister -- friend had not read the books, his sister had read all of them, and I've read the first book only (haven't gotten around to the others yet, though I mean to). I (and Sister) thought it was a good adaptation of the book, and all three of us enjoyed it. Hope you had fun!

I definitely had fun. And, while I'd read a lot of reviews that took issues with various aspects of the adaptation (and my own FB, who went with his lady-love, had some issues with them), I thought it was very well done. Well, yes, I did have a couple of things that I thought could have been added without adding too much to the length of the movie, but I wouldn't call them issues.
