The Russians have always been stubborn. Look at the Siege of Stalingrad. This can be an admirable trait in heroes.
When it's the fucking snakes (and I apologize to both the physical act of love and the subjects of herpetological fascination when I use that phrase) who have apparently decided it is time, once again, to attack Live Journal, I have a much, much lower opinion of stubbornness.

ETA: It appears that LJ is back up and running. I certainly hope it means that the thugs tried, and failed, and went off with their little weaselly tails between their legs. (Except actually, I really like weasels.)
