 Mac came through the operation

I haven't spoken to him yet, and will probably wait until late Tuesday to do so; nor will I expect him to want to talk a lot. But his cardiac care nurse, with whom I spoke, said he was doing well after coming out of four or five hours of operating room time. 

Thank you for all your good wishes and prayers. I am a very grateful big sister.

Sorry it took me so long to reply - working on that "less stress in my body" thing, but my mind is sure as hell less stressed, now that I've had a chance to talk to Mac a couple of times.

It's definitely a relief; he still sounds wrung out, and I suspect he will for quite some time, but he's here and being taken care of by good people, and he's surrounded by people who love him, and that will help him.

It's a scary thing to have something like this happen to one of your loved ones. My thoughts are with you and with Mac.

As an aside, I had a new grandchild born on the 29th of March, and they are calling him Mac. It's a good name.

Oh yeah, and I wanted to tell you that my dad had quintuple bypass back in 2003, and this year he'll celebrate his 79th birthday. It's a tough recovery, but your brother sounds like a strong, smart guy (must take after his sister...)

I am, too! I'm hoping to talk to him a little more tomorrow; he already called me, all croaky, in pain, and doped up, but tough as nails. He'll be in the ICU until at least Sunday.

IJWTS that I reread that as his sarcastic care nurse says he's okay.... I love that the Canadian health system believes in caring for the whole patient, sarcasm included.

I just saw this - growing up with a nurse, I can tell you there are scores of highly trained sarcastic care nurses here in Canada. You can probably find them down here, too, but definitely up north. Heh.
