Yes, and it was a totally unexpected one. He'd come over to our place after work, just to catch up with Mom and Dad, and, because he's a big skiffy-nerd like his parents, we were talking about such things (in connection with an earlier post, he was trying to puzzle out why my friend didn't like Firefly), and the talk led to my gloating over getting the S&S collection. I tried to explain what S&S was to him, then decided just to show him the beginning sequence on YouTube ... but we just kept watching. I'd glance at him as he sat next to me on the couch, and he was absolutely captured by the show. He only left, reluctantly, because it was time to go pick up his lady love (or just go home to sleep, I was a little fuzzy on that one.)

See my response to flowsoffire, above, to see how this wondrous thing came about. And I can tell you here that he really adored the slow pace. As I did, he immediately glommed on to the gorgeous visual angles and carefully set shots. Mostly importantly, I think, he understood that the fear came from seeing ordinary places suddenly imbued with the what he calls "a step off." Everything looks like it's ordinary and safe, and then you realize that it's a step sideways, off the real world, off and away from safety.

He's my son, alright, and now I have one more thing to watch with him. Hurrah!!!!! (I can hardly wait until he gets to meet Silver; I predict he'll fall in love with him, just as I have. Heh.

Aww, how lovely! :-) It's so nice when people get things. I was able to watch S&S with my parents, even though it wasn't normally their thing (or not my Mum's anyway) - because Dad loves Joanna Lumley and Mum loves David McCallum. (My Dad's big three celebrity crushes have always been Joanna, Diana Rigg and Honor Blackman. It's taken me a long time to finally realise what that says about him and his formative TV. ;-D)

Silver does get a lovely entrance, so let's hope so. You know, they actually wrote the part for Anthony Sher, but he sent the script back unread because he didn't think much of the show, so they sent it to their second choice who was much more amenable and not about to turn down a nice part and the chance to work with Joanna Lumley.

(My Dad's big three celebrity crushes have always been Joanna, Diana Rigg and Honor Blackman. It's taken me a long time to finally realise what that says about him and his formative TV. ;-D)
