I Cleaned the Refrigerator!

I did it with BB's help, and I am inordinately, irrepressibly gleeful about it. I am easily amused and easily made happy this weekend, apparently.

Then again, when I looked at the inside of the fridge a couple of nights ago, I was terribly disgusted with myself, with good reason. I'm not talking about small civilizations arising from mold in abandoned plastic leftover tins, mind you. It was more an overall glaze of spilled this or that, the kind of thing that creeps up on you.

Well right now, the inside of my refrigerator is pretty darned sparkling. I am happy.

I'd put 'clean kitchen' in there myself. Only thing I hate more than having to clean my kitchen is having a dirty one!

Indeed; you often don't know how much grime is getting you down until you get rid of it, and realize you're no longer quite so down.

Woohoo, major Achievement Unlocked! (Ours has had a strange and ghastly smell for a while now and neither of us has had the spoons so far to get all the way down to "clean under the crisper drawers" on the process-of-elimination checklist -- although it did occur to me just the other day to swap in the old half-box of baking soda I've been baking with and now at least it doesn't smell as much like something died in there...)

Oh, the crisper drawers are always the most horrible, aren't they? (Although sometimes, counter-intuitively, the freezer can harbor awful smells. Sometimes extreme cold can't keep something from dying, and because you don't expect anything to go bad when it's rock hard frozen, you don't even consider looking in there. I've had that (augh) experience.

Yay, I love that virtuous-productive "that's better!" feeling.

(My house is never as clean as I would like, because time is so short and I know there are more important things, like making sure the family are fed and clean and clothed and happy; but when a particular not-clean or not-tidy thing starts to niggle at me enough to make me unhappy, it's time to deal with it and get that lovely glow :-) )

It is a glow, isn't it? I used to be much more aggressive about cleaning, but as I get older, I seem to have less and less energy for such things. It's only the niggling that will egg me on to action these days. (And you're right; there are more important things.)

We could have attempted to breed the inside of your refrigerator with the inside of my microwave. (It really has to be the absolutely Next Thing I get to in the kitchen.)

Cleaning the microwave has the added advantage of making it more effective as well (although I have a hard time getting around to cleaning ours as well.)

I feel like cleaning the fridge is one of those things that is easy to forget about entirely for long periods until all of a sudden one realizes that it has become super gross. Kudos to you for vanquishing the grossness!

I completely agree; it's a stealth attack of gross, becaue hey, who spends that much time peering into their refrigerator?

Well, I actually do (ahem *master food grazer here* ahem), but I'm looking for food items, not food detritus.
