Two Lovely People

Happy birthday, one day late, to the talented wendymr, who was one of the first Dr. Who fic writers I ever read, and whose work ,therefore, convinced me that fic - of which I'd heard very little - could be quality writing. I like to think she helped me become a better writer in Who fandom, because of her gentle, but firm, Britpicking. We may not agree on eggnog or Steven Moffat, but we do agree that the Doctor in general is fanTAStic! We also agree on many things political and labor/labour-related, and I am very glad to have met her on These Here Intarwebz. I hope your birthday was a fine one, and that your 2017 is equally excellent!

Happy birthday, too, to the very delightful marence  (again, one day late.) She is not around here these days, but I like to think that she'll get some good vibes from Chicago. It would be delightful to see her again some day, to chat about rock and roll and fandom. I hope her birthday was a good one.

Yay for wendymr!
I first "met" her in Lois & Clark fandom, and was very pleased to discover that she had been wooed into Whodom. Great writer in both places.

I didn't know she was part of Lois & Clark fandom, which is a great unknown to me. But, like you, I'm glad she came into Who fandom, although she seems to be on hiatus from it, and working largely in Inspector Lewis fandom now. I hope she decides to return once Mr. Moffat leaves; I believe she was uncomfortable with his iteration of the Whoniverse, and perhaps his absence will convince her to peek back in!

And, a day later still, thank you so much for your kind birthday wishes! This is something I admire tremendously about you, your generous birthday tributes to people on your flist, with lovely comments to each of us.

You are truly the shining light on my own flist, always making interesting and thought-provoking posts and gently prodding at my conscience, as well as keeping me aware of the sometimes small and sometimes significant ways people are making a difference in the world...

...all of which means that you make a difference in the world, one newspaper article or LJ post or RL act of kindness at a time :)

Thank you so much for your very kind words. I don't know what to say beyond that - like the Brigadier, I just try to do the best I can. I flop majestically on too many occasions, but it's good to know I get it right at times.
