Only One Problem With Saturday

I forgot to take a picture of FB, BB and Neil at Hausermann's. I normally take a shot like that when we go out, but somehow I forgot to this time. Bad me. 

I did, however, take some pictures of orchids. Here, have two or three.

  

I love going there and taking pictures, because even a devotee of the thumb-in-the-lens school of photography, such as myself, can take pretty shots. (What surprises me after all these years, is that I believe I like the tiny orchids, the ones that look as if they were carved out of brown and golden wood, almost more than I like the other blooms. They're so delicate! Of course, I love the ones with heavy aromas, aromas of cinnamon and almost-rose, or almost-gardenia, too, because I can never get enough of those perfumes.

Speaking of which, while there, I also picked up some lovely soaps and perfume (she didn't call it that, but that's what it was, or at least it was perfumed oil), from the lady who always sells her wares at Hausermann's. I love aromatic things, and I never get to wear perfume outside the house anymore, because of peoples' sensitivities or outright allergies. Today, I came home and anointed myself with orchid perfume. And I am happy.

One of my uncles took two of my all time favourite pictures. The first was his feet and the second was his nose as he was trying to look at the front of the camera to figure out how he had just taken a picture of his feet.

Heh ... I feel for your uncle, because I've done very much the same thing. My son has lately become a camera hound, having received a Nikon for Christmas; he now has three separate lenses for the thing and can on about aperture and all sorts of things. When he attended the Chicago Women's March he was amazed at how much cooperation he got from people who were happy to let him take their pictures. I told him that's one of the things that news photographers benefit from. If you're polite and ask someone if they can be photographed, they will become your friend.

I'll take orchids over people almost any day ;-)

There are days when I feel that way, too. Not with orchids, but I understand the idea. People have their own delights, though.

And now I have an almost irresistible urge to play Fish Heads again...

I'm glad you liked the pictures. I noticed there were a lot more orange and golden orchids this year than there were last year. I'm not sure why, and the white orchids are always the most profuse, but gold colored blooms were very much ascendant.

Aren't they? And there were almost four acres of plants, of all shapes and sizes. It really is an amazing event, and I like going every year.
