I am very happy with myself. Yes, I am. Right now, it's mostly through the "flaking and scabbing" part of healing, and luckily there was no scabbing, just flaking, like a sunburn. This is all very normal, I've been told. I still have to wash it carefully and put lotion on it between 3 and 5 times every day, which I think I'll be doing for another week or so. It didn't hurt too much, and I think I could eventually get another one, on the other arm, for balance. Maybe to celebrate when I retire, in 39 months ... my First Born has a Tardis on his leg, so I don't suppose I'll do that, but I should think of another Who-themed design. Any ideas?

Thanks - I'm almost as chuffed by the fact that I finally up and did something I'd talked about for some time, instead of just continuing to talk about it, as I am with the tattoo itself. The guy did a superb job, though, and I will definitely go back to him when next I add ink. Which will probably be in 39 months, when I retire. To celebrate. Heh.

Thanks - I'm looking forward to when I don't have to do the care and cleaning 3 to 4 times a day, but it's a really small price to pay for having this. And when someone I know in 3D space mentioned people who regret their tatts, I told them this one wasn't going to ever be regretted.

Ah, those people who love to tell you about people who've regretted getting them. When i got my first one at 26, my folks were like, what about when you're old and your skin is wrinkly and it doesn't look good and I was like, you want me to deprive myself of 30 plus years of enjoyment because when I'm old and wrinkly I'm going to care if my old and wrinkly skin has ink on it???

I'll never forget the time, decades ago now of course, when my mother, my brother and I were watching the show. My Nana came in and asked what we were watching; we gave her the name of the show, and she asked, "Starsky and Who?" Although it wasn't funny, for some reason, the three of us fell about the place. My Nana, who had a remarkably flexible sense of humor started to laugh as well, and from that point on, the show was known as Starsky and Who in our household.

Yep - at the age of 61, I figured I could do what I want. I'm actually looking forward to seeing if any of my upper management types make any kind of comment. My immediate boss thought it was awesome.

What are some of your designs? When did you get your first one?

I not generally fond of tattoos or piercing, partly because I feel I have put my body through so much crap already that I should draw the line somewhere but everyone gets different mileage from different things in life so I am happy for you.

Thanks - it's a design from Dr. Who; the symbol for the imaginary (except in my heart) planet of Gallifrey, the Doctor's home planet.

The last time I did anything to alter my physical body willingly (as opposed, say, to having an appendectomy) was when I had my ears pierced, which didn't happen until 1982 or so, much later than many of my female peers. So, 35 years or so between body-mods. And I found this to be an acceptable level of pain for a lovely design. Also, I researched the tattoo salons I had available, and I think I chose one of the more professional, and definitely hygienic, ones on the list.

Yep, that's me. Except I've been wearing purple for awhile now. Heh.

This is my very first ink. My immediate boss, to who I showed a picture, was very impressed; she said that when I told her I'd had a tattoo, she expected that it would be small and delicate (I think those were her words). And of course, this is anything but small and delicate.

It still feels a bit like a sunburn after I wash and moisturize it, but it's much less so. The aftercare instructions state that it takes about two weeks for the tattoo to heal on the surface, and about two months to heal all the way down. That makes sense to me.

Thanks - over the week, there's one area where you can see the sub-dermal ink slid a little below the actual bottom of the design; I suspect that's always the case with these heavily blacked-in designs, and I think I'm the only person who will really notice it. It still looks great, although I'm going through the flake, scab, and peel (urk) stage of healing.

I love these glasses - they're purple, which is one of my favorite colors. What color are yours?

Mine are a baby blue, so not the same after all, but very close! They are a great pair of glasses. So comfy.
