We Escaped 2018

... and I loved the Dr. Who New Year special. It solidified my feelings about this season; I loved it, for reasons that might run counter to those of other folks. 

I'm heading to bed right now, so I'll have to leave my explanation for another time. But I know what I liked, and I'll do my best to explain in another post.

It made me happy -- and a little bit more optimistic on how Chibnall will handle Classic Who characters.

It was, imo, very well paced and well structured, with a balance between the personal plot line and the Dalek plot line.

(I'd be tempted to say that the body count was low. but it's probably better to say that it was low in comparison with most other Dalek-related episodes. I counted four individual deaths, and about 10-12 deaths of soldiers as they fought it.)

Considering that one of the Fifth Doctor serials had a reputation (at its time) for having a higher body count than The Terminator- this episode's count is fairly low.

You're right. I wouldn't want to be a soldier in the Whoniverse.

Happy New Year to you as well! I was so glad it turned out as it did for those two, although the body count was up to Who's bloody average (I would never be a British soldier in the Whoniverse.)

I'm trying to get my head around all my feelings -- tryibg to separate my authentic reactions from my intellectual response to others' responses. It's an interesting mental exercise. Once I have a handle on that, I can write something that I am happy with.

I wasn't particularly keen - I could point out a lot of individual points that worked well [in the series], but overall I am finding it hard to articulate anything much at all. And I do have some thoughts on Resolution, and they're pretty positive, but I suppose that my frame of mind can mostly be summed up as being slightly annoyed at having 'new' stuff to watch as it interfered with my watching of Five...

So, I am keen to hear you being positive, because I much prefer liking things to not.
