I didn't listen to the speech, but from all previous evidence, that sounds about right to me.

Ezra Klein had an article on Vox, I think, about how the speech sounded good, but then Klein would remember the actual presidency. A fact-checking article (NYTimes) said lies, exaggeration, and maybe one accurate statement.

I'm glad that the women on the floor started pointing at each other after he talked about how more women have new jobs because of him (loosely paraphrased to take the women's meaning). Well, yeah.

ETA: I deliberately avoided the thing, on purpose. I knew it would only piss me off. Besides, I was driving in weather, I needed to concentrate.

I think I saw his tweet on that, but since I didn't think the Orange One's speech even sounded good, I didn't bother to look at the story. Anyone who says the speech sounded good wasn't listening.

And you're right to avoid the thing. I felt I had to watch, having avoided the last two.

I hadn't listened to his 2017 or 2018 speeches, or at least not as carefully as I did last night. I'm sure they were as morally and ethically execrable as this one, but listening to this made me want to scream at everyone there, saying, "This is an affront to democracy, and you should all turn on your heels and leave the chamber!"

I'd skipped his last two, so I figured I needed to enter the fray by seeing what he had to say. It was painful, but, for me, necessary.
