My question is why on earth didn't they plan for this? This was no surprise, or shouldn't have been. And as people have said, if this had been an effort by BLM supporters, most of those supporters would be dead. White Trumpistas apparently got a bye, which is no surprise to me.

They tried. DC asked for backup support but apparently, the Justice Department declined. D was preparing for this. Like, businesses were boarding up their windows and everything.

They tried to break into the governor's mansion in my state. Got through the gates but that's all. According to Twitter, there are few arrests in DC. So...they're getting away with it.

Good Lord. I'm worried that we may end up seeing more state-level violence - and of course, we're just about destined to see more violence on Jan. 20. (Sorry for the late response; I've actually tried to be offline for a bit, and missed this.) As of today, I saw at least one bit of speculation about sealed court papers filed in D.C. that look as if they are the preludes to numerous FBI arrests. Let's hope that's the case.
