Here; have this unmistakably Canadian cat story from the CBC, with many thanks to james_davis_nicoll  for alerting me to it.

Wasn't it? I've read at least one comment that scruffing cats doesn't make them go limp. In our experience with adult cats, ours at any rate, about half of them did do the trick. The other half were less than impressed with our mother cat impressions. Still, I think the farmer probably knew what he was doing.

I know, right? It looks like the lynx is cycling between "Wut??!?" "Mom?!?!", "Mai chickn, give me it! NAOW", and "Of course you know this means war" before returning to "WUT?!?" Lather, rinse, repeat. Heh.

That made me smile. That last bit about a possible fine for being kind and making sure his homestead is safe from the lynx by transporting it elsewhere did NOT make me smile. But the rest was quite lovely. And I can imagine the startled and the scowly look from the lynx when snatched up like a naughty kitten. That made me laugh a bit.

Yeah, I know the fines are there in part to protect animals from being trafficked, and to protect humans from rabies and other animal-borne pathogens, but you'd think there'd be a little flexibility.

Well, come to think of it, there was some flexibility apparently, since the story didn't include information on the farmer getting fined and/or charged. Heh.
