Yep, We're Going

I got our tickets to and from Nova Scotia today; the trip runs Sept. 30-Oct. 6. The Canadian consulate here in Chicago cleared up one of my questions on COVID-19 regulations up there; I got information regarding what we need to have in place to return to the U.S. from the U.S. government site and the CDC site; and I've checked the Nova Scotia government requirements, so that's all done. 

The rest of the day was an exercise in frustration regarding medical stuff and condo association stuff. Both situations have left me mightily pissed off; I'm going to sleep on the condo association thing so that the email I send off to them about that particular problem doesn't start and end with "fuck off, you punctilious assholes." That would get me nowhere. 

I'm not even going to think about the medical frustration. That's going to be a problem for the next 10 days, but we'll get through it somehow. 

I'm going to focus on the things I was successful in.

With that date, our election should be over, done and dusted for good or ill. Likely ill. Just to what degree is not known yet.

I see that the Liberals are slipping and may have slipped under the Conservatives in polls. That's really unfortunate - Trudeau and his government may have been incompetent in some areas, and probably only earned a C+ or B-, letting the Conservatives in would be, in my opinion, more of a disaster.

Thanks - I'm already excited to be going! I hope to introduce BB to some friends who've never met him, and get together with friends who already know us both. I also want to head over to the Bay of Fundy, which was part of my childhood.

The obnoxious condo association stuff made me stew much of last night. I sent a marginally civil response to the email that prompted my ire, and haven't received an answer. I'm pretty sure they won't respond; at this point, I don't care, since I've made my point. The medical thing will play out as it plays out.

And Canada's in our future, so that's a positive thing!

I'm really looking forward to the trip; I haven't seen my brother in almost three years, and I didn't want to risk waiting until next year, when I'd planned to go - the Delta variant might have tightened borders again by then.

I see from your notes here that our Chicago consulate was consulted, so that should obviate the need to ask CBSA any questions. Hoping you have a good, safe time while you're up here...

Thanks - tomorrow I'm typing up a checklist form so that I don't lose sight of every piece of paper we need, and the dates by which we need to have viral tests done. I'm not risking getting turned back at Billy Bishop, or Stanfield, coming or going.

Thanks; it's going to be a time to be with my brother He's younger than I am, but has had several bad health scares over the last few years. I last saw him about three years ago, and I realized I needed to see him now, in case border restrictions ramp up again.

It is amazing how things that can be so fucking stupid and enraging can be funny hours or even a whole day later. Human brains. Go figure.

I'm sorry about the medical thing. Even though it is not life threatening, it doesn't make it any easier to have to tolerate....
