Nope, that isn't a spelling mistake. That's the first four letters of my last name, and the number of years I have, as of Sept. 17, been on this twirling globe of beauty and horror.
Pronounce it as you would "paper route", something I used to say a lot when I was a working reporter ....
.... oh, for heaven's sake, not "root".
"Rowt." Which is how I pronounce my name.
Oh. Well. Well, yes, "root" is also appropriate for the tit - .
No. No, it isn't. goddammit.
Ah, well. I amuse myself.
Any others can come along for the ride.

Date: Sunday, 19 September 2021 07:49 am (UTC)I'm British, so would indeed say "root" - the only time we use "rowt" for any variations on that word is when it's a military disaster. Happy b'day to you, you military disaster! ;-p ♥

Date: Wednesday, 22 September 2021 05:58 pm (UTC)On a very belated basis, thank you - and this made me grin, because there are days when I feel like a military disaster!

Date: Sunday, 19 September 2021 02:51 pm (UTC)When I was younger, I remember radio announcers referring to rural route as rural root as in John Schmoo lives on rural route 9.
I have also noticed, from an Australian sit-com, about a lawyer with a drug abuse problem, that the Aussies use the word "root" for, as far as I could tell, joyful, recreational sex but I am often confused about such things.

Date: Wednesday, 22 September 2021 08:25 pm (UTC)I'm not sure how I ran into the "raowt" pronunciation, but it was when I was fairly young. Possibly from my Nana, but have no idea how or why she pronounced it that way.
The happily sexual meaning for "root" is familiar to me.
I am often confused about such things.
As are we all. Heh.

Thanks for the birthday wish; I've always said that belated wishes are great, because they prolong the celebration.
