Friday, 26 April 2013 05:44 pmReally, brain? Really????
....aaand I just found my power cord and adapter. In the backpack I had checked once, twice, thrice. Well, $114 Canadian later, I now have two adapters. Oh, brain, you're so sleep-deprived. Oh, wallet, you're so much thinner.

Date: Saturday, 27 April 2013 06:09 pm (UTC)Yeah, that engendered a bit of sticker shock. Still, it is a universal adapter, which could prove very helpful in future. And the purchase in American dollars was a little less expensive, since the Canadian dollar is actually back lower than the American dollar once again. Not by much, mind you, but I take consolation where I may. Heh.

Date: Saturday, 27 April 2013 06:00 pm (UTC)Heh. Yep - although, as others have mentioned to me, the benefits of having a spare power cord are not to be sniffed at. (I think this will give me three in total; and since I'm a "plug it in" girl rather than a "work off the battery" one, I've decided to continue to be pleased at the purchase.
The trip ended up so much better than it could have, and I think the good wishes of everyone on my f'list helped. That's not just polite phraseology, it's the god's honest.

Date: Saturday, 27 April 2013 03:01 am (UTC)Your power cord and adapter wes clearly off partying in another dimension all those times you looked at it wasn't there.
FWIW, I find having 2 power cords with adapters for my laptop to be so useful, I always buy an extra. One lives in my computer backpack; the other stays at my desk. That way, I'm not constantly having to plug and unplug the one at my desk and I always have one whenever I take my computer anywhere. So while your budget and stress levels certainly could have done without the durned thing off partying when you were looking for it, I hope you'll find it a useful purchase.
(I lucked out with my most recent laptop; the appearance of the power connector is a tiny bit different, but the old ones work with it, so I already have two extras without having to buy even one. Win.

Date: Saturday, 27 April 2013 06:04 pm (UTC)I am in full agreement with you, because I pulled the backpack apart (which caused a great many curious glances in the Halifax library, I can tell you) three times. I wanted to be sure that I wasn't going to make an unneeded purchase. Physics be damned, the thing wasn't there when I looked!
And I have decided to consider it a useful purchase. Why bitch, when I can't do anything about it?*
* Which normally never stops me, but occasionally I have unexpected fits of common sense.
