I can't post - not about big things, nor about little things. F'list, I'm turning to you. 

Ask me questions, and I'll answer them in posts. Ask me fannish questions, ask me about my life, about reporting, about my tastes in food or music, ask me the other answer to life, the universe, and everything (the one that isn't '42'), and I'll answer. 

Or at least I'll do my best. And you'll have helped me get back into the posting habit.

(And also thinks she should probably apologize if this seems pretty egocentric. So here's another idea. If you'd like, you could ask me for a fic. Name your characters, and some sort of setup - happy, sad, funny - and I'll try to write something. So, yeah, there's that option.)

Where was the first place you heard "Canadian Lady"? What was your reaction?

I can tell you that very quickly: it was when Bob sang it for me in our livingroom, after he'd written it. I was gobsmacked, both delighted and embarrassed. It was the first time anyone had ever written something for me, and that someone was the man I loved. It was wonderful.

So, in my watching of Classic Who, I have been casually cataloguing Doctors based on traits that I find important. Like tinker-y-ness, introspection, and tendency to shed clothes (I've got a weakness for shirtsleeves). I've a vague notion of making a big chart when I'm done, because surely this is something the world needs. Name a quality that you find appealing or important in Doctors and rank as many Doctors as you can by this quality. Any way you feel like taking this is fine by me: classic and/or modern Doctors, a strict ranking system or something more loose (more tinker-y, middlingly tinker-y, not tinker-y), with supporting commentary or without.

Wow - this will take some time for me, since I'm comfortably directly aware of only three Old Who doctors (or four, looking at the Eighth along with the Third, Fourth, and Fifth.) I know One from my childhood, but haven't watched him lately, and have watched (and liked) two Two adventures. I've gotten through two Seven adventures, and I'm drawn to him, but I want to see more of his later adventures. I did watch a lot of Six, but the poor man was so awfully directed and written that I was put off by him. I'm told that he comes off far better in the non-television adventures ... anyhow, yes, I shall think on the Old Who Doctors. I can easily talk about New Who, although I'm rather surprised at how my affections have evolved.

tl;dr: I love this, and will work on it!

(It's not that I've come to the end of all the ones I had in mind for my tumblr series, honest. Well, a bit...)

ETA: Also would you like to know what was the subject of James Maxwell's father's thesis? Probably not, but I stumbled over some extra info on him yesterday and it was "A Financial History of Nova Scotia, 1848-99." :-D (Same article managed to call JM Jnr a Hollywood Actor, though, so some people don't know how to read or Google.)

I should think about this by going back to your wonderful tumblr list to make sure I don't suggest Elements you've already done. And fancasting is an absolutely wonderful way to stimulate my brain - thanks! (Of course I should be shaking my head at you, since I know that your questions are going to eat my brain as well as stimulate it. Heh ....

You know that I have a friend who's a professor at Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia (at least I don't think she's retired yet), and her field of interest was social economics, especially how those economics affected women. She focused a lot on Ontario while she was working there, but I think one of her later publications focused on Nova Scotia. While Mr. Maxwell's thesis might not be 100 percent in her wheelhouse, it's altogether possible she is familiar with it as part of her research (especially the late end of the period.) So yes, I'm tickled to find that out!

Hmmm - I can tell you that I haven't seen Letterkenny, but you are the second person of Mple City derivation to tell me it's a great show (Mikey Butler raved about it to me as well.)

I am going to tackle your Question 2 very soon; you and lokifan, above, asked about music-related things, and since music is so central to my life, it makes sense to stimulate my brain answering both of you.

Ah, the question of how did I meet Bob. That's possibly the only fairy tale I can reliably say I was part of. And I will tell that story in another post. Heh. (Fairy tales do exist; I can say that with certitude. And some of them are very good ones, she amends, knowing that many, many fairy tales are dark as fuck.)

On second thought, If you would prefer to write a short story, then maybe a tale, not of the three gentlemen named Richard, but rather of the barmaid who brought them cloths so they could clean up their own mess.
